2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the cruise industry. Set to bring a range of new cruise-ships, added itineraries, and tailor-made tours, the possibilities for those planning a cruise holiday are endless. A celestial year for cruising, it might seem that the sky is the
limit for some, but for others, their sights are firmly amongst the stars. Several cruise-companies have been seeking inspiration from astronomy for the launch of their upcoming vessels. Set to debut in Spring 2026, Norwegian Luna is the latest addition to Norwegian Cruise Line’s Prima Class. With a name harking back to the moon, Norwegian Luna has been designed with a celestial theme in mind. Set to be 10% bigger than its sister ship, Norwegian Aqua, Norwegian Luna is expected to draw inspiration between the moon and tides, reconnecting the ship to its astronomical namesake. Debuting a first-of-its-kind hybrid rollercoaster and a digital sports complex, Norwegian Luna is expected to bring a new level of innovation and high-end technology to Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet. Focusing on the aspects of exploration, and intimacy, Windstar
Cruises is also bringing two new ‘stars’ to its fleet, with the introduction of Star Seeker and Star Explorer in 2026. Star Seeker, Windstar’s Newest Yacht, is currently making headway on her
first sailing-season in the Caribbean before she ventures up the west coast of the United States to Alaska for the summer season. Star Explorer is set to debut towards the end of 2026, in December.
Both Star Seeker, and Star Explorer have ice-
strengthened hulls, meaning the ships can unlock access to new destinations. With a prime focus on exploration, the ships are equipped with pump jet thrusters and forward-facing sonars, expected to benefit navigation and propulsion. Diverting away from the theme of astrological names, Royal
Caribbean is making way for a new ‘Legend’ amongst their fleet with the introduction of Legend of The Seas. Set to debut in July 2026, Legend of The Seas is the newest ship in the Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class. Jam-packed with new experiences for all the members of the family to enjoy, Legend of the Seas is set to debut entertainment offerings such as Broadway hit, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,’ alongside the largest water park at sea. Emerald Kaia is set to make its debut in April 2026, with an
inaugural voyage through Cyprus, Greece and Turkey. Marking the significant innovation in the Emerald Cruises portfolio, the yacht is set to debut with state-of-the-art enhancements, with increased capacity for 128 guests. With a plethora of new beginnings imminent throughout the cruise industry in 2026, it seems the possibilities for looking towards a cruise-holiday are endless.
