American Airlines Celebrates 100 Years of Flying with Irish Travel Trade

NI Travel News’ Danielle attended a special luncheon hosted by American Airlines at The Ivy Dublin, alongside key members of the Irish travel trade. Guests were welcomed with a drinks reception before hearing the latest updates from Pedro Gimenez and Pratima Seli. The presentation highlighted exciting developments across the airline’s network, product, and future growth plans, followed by a delectable three-course lunch. During the session, American Airlines reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening relationships with corporate and agency partners. The airline is refocusing on the needs of travel trade customers through increased industry engagement, expanded sales support, and continued growth of its account management team. These initiatives are accompanied by investments in service enhancements designed to better support travel partners and their clients. Fleet development also featured prominently in the update. Deliveries of the new Airbus A321XLR have begun, with up to 50 aircraft on order. The first route using the aircraft will launch on 9 March 2026 between Edinburgh and New York City. Looking ahead, American Airlines also plans to introduce service to Porto, Portugal, in 2027 (subject to government approval),

operating a daily summer

seasonal service from Philadelphia using the Airbus A321XLR featuring the airline’s new Flagship Suite® seats. The airline’s premium product upgrades will extend across several aircraft types, including newly delivered Boeing 787-9 aircraft and retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 777-200ER. These upgrades will introduce the new Flagship Suite® seating, enhanced Premium Economy features, and a redesigned Main Cabin experience. American Airlines also announced it has secured air travel rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup across Canada, Mexico, and the United States in partnership with Qatar Airways. Finally, 2026 marks a major milestone for the airline as American Airlines celebrates its centennial year. Throughout the year, customers and team members can look forward to special anniversary touches, including new amenity kits, pyjamas, enhanced inflight dining, and other limited-time experiences. To mark the occasion,

a special

centennial decal will also be placed across the airline’s fleet of more than 1,500 aircraft, celebrating 100 years of American Airlines with every flight.

Many thanks to Tara Magee and the American Airlines team for hosting a fantastic event and sharing such exciting updates for the year ahead.
