As usage of the sUAS is gaining momentum at a supersonic pace, it is doing so in large part with those outside the aviation community of operators, pilots and mechanics. For example, the sUAS is gaining rapid acceptance with: • Movie / TV production for those “cool action shots” too dangerous or expensive for a manned aircraft


• TV broadcasting for sporting, news events and traffi c reporting


• Commercial photography for weddings, birthdays, etc.


• Real Estate surveys


• Oil Refi nery equipment inspections


I understand that Amazon is seeking to incorporate the sUAS into package delivery service,…etc, etc,. And trust me, this utilization list is limited only by the imagination, creativity and resourcefulness of the sUAS owner.


Of course, the sUAS are popping up within the confi nes of the aviation residents as sUAS are becoming part of: • Airborne Law Enforcement


for surveillance


• Arial Fire Mapping during and after a fi re event


• Search and Rescue operations • Power line patrol But even within these groups,


the aviation side of the house I have found may not be totally involved in the drone program. So, by now you can


understand my concern that most of Part 107 deals with the basics of operation and pilot qualifi cations, responsibilities and certifi cation. But, even though the subject of maintenance is conspicuous by its absence, to be totally fair, condition for a safe operation of the sUAS is mentioned as in 14CFR Part 107:
