FlightPath9 and Fast Track The first FlightPath9 class started last month with 25 students who attend four hours of class two evenings per week in a training center near the Airbus aircraft production facility in Mobile, AL. FlightPath9 will lay the foundation of a career in aviation for students, some of whom may have little to no prior aviation or aerospace experience. When students successfully complete FlightPath9, they enter the second phase of training: Fast Track, which is a 12-week program where they’ll hone their skills on aircraft assembly, including torqueing, riveting, gauging, reading blueprints, tool use, ergonomics and more. Students entering Fast Track will be full-time Airbus employees, earning a salary, benefits, etc. According to Hurdle, “These programs are really about
inspiring kids, giving them STEM-focused education and awareness to aviation. Our goal is to impact the community as a whole.”
Students who successfully complete Fast Track will work on the assembly of Airbus’ A220 and A320 aircraft. In addition to earning certifications, eligible students can also receive special student pricing on Snap-on tools through Snap-on’s Student Excellence Program.

ELLIOTT AVIATION DELIVERS THREE CITATION EXCEL/
XLS GARMIN G5000 INSTALLATIONS IN ONE MONTH Elliott Aviation, a business aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul services provider, and Garmin’s leading retrofitter, announces it has delivered three Garmin G5000 equipped Citation Excel/XLS aircraft in the past month. Elliott Aviation is currently leading the industry with three delivered, and 15 scheduled Garmin G5000 installations for the Citation Excel/XLS. The Citation Excel/XLS Garmin G5000 retrofit
replaces all existing Honeywell Primus 1000 avionics, including the autopilot and flight director. The retrofit has WAAS/LPV, ADS-B, XM weather, electronic charts, SafeTaxi, engine monitor data, and emergency descent mode. It also has optional synthetic vision, turbulence detection, SurfaceWatch, underspeed protection, Chartview, CPDLC, and lightning and hail prediction. In addition to the Citation Excel/XLS Garmin G5000
retrofit, Elliott Aviation has installed more than 25 G5000 systems in the Beechjet 400A/Hawker 400XP and over 350 G1000/G1000 NXi systems in King Airs. They have completed more Garmin full cockpit retrofits than all other dealers in the world, combined. “The demand for the Garmin G5000 avionics suite in the Citation Excel and XLS is very strong and all indications show this program being a tremendous success,” says Mark Wilken, vice president of Avionics Programs and Operational Logistics at Elliott Aviation. “We’re proud of the partnership we have built with Garmin and look forward to continuing to lead the industry in Garmin retrofits.”
