passenger connectivity services. We are the first low-latency, high- throughput global connectivity service to power a fiber-like broadband experience in the skies. Until now, in-flight connectivity systems have relied on satellites in

Geostationary Earth Orbit, located more than 35,000km from Earth. The signal on a Europe-US flight is affected for up to several hours by the position of the satellite above the Equator, and the curvature of the Earth. Our fleet of moving satellites

orbit 30 times closer, at 1,200km. You will see a difference in terms of speed, reliability, and accessibility. For example, dense orbital coverage above the 60th parallel North means we can offer inflight connectivity and 375Gbps of capacity over the northerly tracks and polar region for the first time.” Worth noting is that Iridium is

part of Aireon, which is the global air traffic surveillance system using a space-based Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) network that meets the strict, real-time Air Traffic Service (ATS) surveillance requirements for air traffic separation services, anywhere in the world. Aireon uses Iridium’s satellites to provide its service, and the company is based in northern Virginia. OneWeb is not the only satellite operation attuned to aviation, but due to a recent agreement with Iridium (and thru them, Aerion), it will undoubtedly be well-positioned to provide Internet services to passengers in flight, as well as for aircraft operations.

Starlink is a satellite constellation development project started by Los Angeles-area-based SpaceX and is developing a low-cost, high-performance satellite bus and necessary customer ground transceivers to implement a new space-based Internet communication system. Starlink has its offices in Redmond, WA, and this is where SpaceX has facilities for its satellite operation. SpaceX has received FCC approval to deliver broadband services from a constellation of nearly 12,000 satellites and will utilize three operational orbits, and use Ku, Ka and V-band spectrum satellites. Two prototype test-flight satellites

were launched back in February 2018 and the second set of test
