MIAMI TERMINAL A Terminal A

The Crown of Miami A

ship the size of Symphony of the Seas needs a terminal that can

accommodate a sizeable number of passengers. That’s why Terminal A in the Port of Miami was designed by Royal Caribbean specifically to hold the world’s largest cruise ships and manage the number of people passing through its gates quickly and efficiently to get them on board. Terminal A, which is also known as the Crown of Miami thanks to its shape, opened in November last year, just in time for Symphony of the Seas’ arrival in the US. It is North America’s largest cruise terminal, boasting about half a mile of baggage- handling equipment. It also has photo recognition technology, which

makes for a quick and easy check-in. Our luggage was tagged and swiftly taken away, our boarding passes were scanned and we passed through security without any delays. Before we knew it, we were walking onto the ship to be greeted with a glass of prosecco.

as the photo recognition technology meant we were back on dry land in a matter of minutes. According to Clia (Cruise Lines

International Association), the Caribbean is the third most-popular cruise destination for the UK and Ireland market, and has experienced double-digit growth. The number of British cruisers to the region increased by 10.5% between 2016 and 2017. Winter sun is a big draw for travellers to the Caribbean, with more than three quarters of UK and Ireland cruisers heading there in the winter months. Lots of outdoor space on the Oasis-class ships means they are well- suited to the Caribbean climate, with the pool areas and outdoor seating used year round.
