Little Havana

Ocean Drive ASK THE AGENT

walking food tour, sampling some staple Cuban dishes along with its lively atmosphere. Starting off with a tasty beef empanada and a strong Pilon coffee in family-run Cuban kitchen El Pub was enough to set the tone for the rest of the tour, which saw us visit five more local haunts to sample the best of what the district had to offer. The next stop was famous live music venue Ball & Chain, which has had a fascinating history since it opened in the early 1930s. Musicians such as Nat King Cole and Louis Armstrong played at the venue, which, after

being used as a furniture store from the 1960s, has now been restored for its original purpose. Here, we relaxed outside with a mojito, one of the tastiest I’ve ever had.

DID YOU KNOW?

Miami‘s Wynwood district is famous for its street art and trendy galleries, especially during the Art Basel festival in December

A Cuban sandwich was next on the menu at Old Havana’s – a hearty sandwich of ham, pork, mustard, cheese and pickles, all pressed by a plancha – with a chicken croqueta on the side. The sweet

dishes were next, with a

guava pastry from a local bakery and sugar cane juice from the market stalls, before finishing with some delicious ice cream.

“One of the highlights was the Little Havana food tasting. It’s an area of Miami I didn’t know at all and I thought it had such a great vibe. Guests will enjoy going there and tasting different foods, and if people haven’t been to Miami before, shopping is always popular. There’s the beach, a huge number of restaurants, and nightlife, and it’s quite a relaxed, informal place.”
