Great outdoors One of Jordan’s most famous attractions is the archaeological site of Petra, where travellers can visit the iconic Treasury, the Monastery and preserved ruins and carvings. Just south lies Wadi Rum, a protected landscape of sand dunes, monoliths and rock formations. Adventurous clients can traverse the dunes by camel, horse or 4x4. Visitors can spend the night in a traditional Bedouin camp, stargazing and trying zarb, a traditional dish that’s cooked underground. Equally inspiring activities can be found at the Wadi Mujib gorge, where hiking trails wind through canyons, passing waterfalls and natural pools. Close by is the Dead Sea, which is bursting with minerals that visitors can soak in while floating in the water.
