Tui adds capacity and 16 hotels for summer 2019

Tui’s 2019 summer programme has 720,000 additional seats and 16 new concept hotels across its Tui and First Choice brands.


The operator has increased capacity in Greece, Turkey and Croatia based on demand. It has also ramped up its


operations from regional airports, with 500,000 of its additional seats from six airports: Birmingham, Cardiff, Doncaster Sheffield, East Midlands, Glasgow and Manchester. Five more aircraft will operate on 40 new routes from 15 airports. Almost two-thirds of the routes


are unique to Tui and half are to Turkey, Greece and Croatia. An additional 200,000 seats


will be available to year-round sun destination Cape Verde. Tui’s long-haul programme will


see its first flight from Doncaster Sheffield to Orlando Sanford, Florida, where it will offer more villa and self-catering options.


AVIATION


Virgin and Delta to add 500,000 seats from UK to US this summer


Virgin Atlantic and its joint-venture partner Delta Air Lines will increase capacity from the UK regions to the US this summer. More than five million seats will be available from London, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast.

Bristol and Manchester, and extra capacity to the Mexican airport from Glasgow and Newcastle will also be added for summer 2019. Tui will also open five adult-only Sensimar hotels for summer 2019: in Crete, Zante and Santorini, Greece; Dalaman, Turkey; and Agadir, Morocco. A new Tui Family Life resort in


Antalya, Turkey, will increase the portfolio to 24 in 18 destinations. First Choice will add two


Holiday Villages, in Lanzarote and


Tunisia, and new Splashworlds in the Dominican Republic and Marsa Alam, Egypt. A Magic Life will also open in Bodrum, Turkey. Five new First Choice SuneoClubs will also open: in Kos and Crete, Greece; Hurghada, Egypt; Menorca, Spain; and Dalaman, Turkey. Tui, which said around one

Virgin Atlantic is trebling the number of seats available between Belfast and Orlando, raising capacity between Manchester and JFK from May, and reintroducing seasonal flights between Manchester and Las Vegas, San Francisco and Boston. It is also adding a sixth daily Heathrow-JFK flight,


while Delta is introducing larger Airbus A330-200s on its twice-daily Heathrow-JFK service to boost capacity. Delta is to resume direct services from London to Salt

› P&O Cruises has promoted Rosy Sims to trade engagement and onboard sales director following Shane Riley’s move to Virgin Voyages. Sims, who has worked for P&O Cruises for 10 years, had been senior business manager, sales strategy for the line. She took over Riley’s responsibilities last month on an interim basis when Riley’s departure was announced.


› Riviera Travel has appointed Paul Mellon as the line’s first field-based sales development manager, covering the south of England. Mellon, previously at Wendy Wu Tours, Funway and Super Break, started in his new role on Tuesday.


› Veranda and Heritage Resorts has appointed Simon McDermott to the new role of sales executive for the north, Scotland and Ireland. McDermott previously worked at Hurtigruten, AmaWaterways and Scenic. He will work with Sarah Ryan, who remains sales executive for the south of England and London.
