Earnshaw promoted as Cole departs Cruise118


The boss and co-founder of Cruise118, James Cole, has left the organisation to “pursue other interests”. Cole set up Cruise118 in 2008 and entered into a partnership with US firm World Travel Holdings two years later, becoming UK managing director. Product and commercial director Alison Earnshaw will replace Cole as managing director with immediate effect.


A&K’s Healey joins Uniworld as Chidley moves to Fred


Uniworld has appointed Rachel Healey as national sales manager. Healey joins from Abercrombie & Kent where she has been sales manager for five years and takes up her new role on April 3. She replaces Dave Chidley who left the river cruise line last week to join Fred Holidays. At A&K, sales director Simon Lynch will be the point of contact until further notice.


Collette puts Burrows and Laverick under consultation


Collette managing director Carl Burrows and head of marketing Michelle Laverick have been put under consultation as part of a reorganisation of the company. Chief executive and president Dan Sullivan Jnr said most of the remaining 20-strong team in the UK would remain in their roles. The UK team will report to senior vice-president of global business, Christian Leibl-Cote.


Ponant appoints Abert as brand ambassador


Ponant has appointed Cecilia Abert as UK brand ambassador to help coordinate the line’s marketing strategy. Abert was previously managing director for Hurtigruten. She resigned from that role after six months, citing differences over the line’s strategic direction. Abert started her role at Ponant last month.

Clia reveals final speaker line-up for May conference

Cruise training body Clia has revealed the speakers for its 12th annual conference in Southampton in May.


‘Generations guru’ Dr Paul


Redmond, who has worked in the employment and education sector for 30 years, will address delegates about the most effective ways to interact with different age groups. Linking to the #GenerationCruise theme of the conference, Redmond will share his knowledge on the behaviours of different generations, the graduate labour market, and how companies can establish an engaged workforce. Cruises chief executive Gianni Onorato, who will talk about the innovations the line has planned and the launch of MSC Bellissima in the UK next year; Chris Austin, Seabourn’s senior vice-president for global sales and marketing, who will talk about developments in the luxury sector; Harry Sommer, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ executive vice-president for international business


Association welcomes Travel 2 as its first operator affiliate


Travel 2 has become the first tour operator to join Clia as an affiliate member. The trade-only operator will be headline sponsor at the Clia Conference 2018 in May, where it will showcase its tailor-made Cruise Plus by Travel 2 range to agents. In April it will release a mini river cruise brochure

to 4,100 agents as part of its membership. The operator said it had seen a 15% year-on-year increase in cruise passengers, while its cruise sales team has grown from four to 20.
