Kelly Cookes @KCookes The Advantage Travel Partnership I cannot recall a time when I felt more frustrated. 1) The messaging around amber was not clear. 2) It is not illegal to go to an amber destination, the gov would just rather we didn’t. 3) Portugal sales are not going to support an entire industry!
Ian Dines @iandines1 Please give some airtime to the hundreds of thousands of people who work in travel (not JUST aviation) who continue to be so devastatingly impacted and simply cannot trade properly. @mrjamesob @IainDale @ShelaghFogarty @AndrewMarr9 @BethRigby @bbclaurak
Shapps: Bravo, Off Broadway
Story: Shapps backtracks on ‘travel agents in the past’ comment [and pledges to visit agency] Nicky Lynn: Fantastic. I hope Off Broadway Travel get the message across for us all. Good luck.
Amber list: Agents put ‘at risk’
Story: Frontline agents ‘at risk from customers’ over amber list bookings Rahul Sabbarwal: Well done, [campaign group] Target – someone needs to stand up for agents. We are fed up with the way we are being treated.

The best of your letters, comments and social media this week Amber: Confusion reigns
Story: Confusion mounts as health minister says people should not go abroad I think we all struggle to see the difference between a person going to an amber country for an ‘essential’ reason or for a holiday. The test and quarantine rules for return to the UK are clear, so if someone is prepared to do that, what does it matter why they went? Even the PM couldn’t come up with a reason other than the fact that holidaymakers would be subject to quarantine and test on arrival, which we are all well aware of. Danny Callaghan, chief executive, LATA
Inbound: Policy hurts sector
Story: £5m domestic tourism campaign launches The government does not seem to appreciate that this isn’t just about some supposed staycation nirvana. Tourist attractions, and the inbound hospitality sector around them, will be decimated by the amber list policy in the same way it is killing outbound. But the government seems more intent on using any opportunity to stick one up at even the safest of inbound markets – especially European markets (and we know why that is, with Brexiteers dominating the cabinet). rachel08
