1 2 1 3 natural wonders in Canada

1 An autumn trip to Churchill, Manitoba – known as the polar bear capital of the world – offers the best chance of spotting these majestic animals, as the town’s 1,200 resident bears converge on Hudson Bay to await the sea ice freeze and the start of their seal-hunting season. Clients can head out in a tundra buggy or take a boat tour led by expert guides to spot the bears in their natural environment along the shoreline.

2 For the chance to see blue whales, humpback whales and milky-white belugas in one place, look no farther than the St Lawrence River in the Quebec Maritimes, which is home to 13 species of whale. Every year, the marine mammals swim to the mouth of the Saguenay Fjord near Tadoussac to feed on plankton, where clients can snap photos from a scenic whale-watching cruise or on a thrilling kayak or Zodiac excursion.

3 In Alberta, clients can see the northern lights dancing over sparkling lakes and emerald forests. Thanks to low light pollution, September onwards is an ideal time for an aurora expedition, with the lights visible above the Rocky Mountains in Banff National Park or farther afield in Wood Buffalo National Park, which is one of the world’s largest dark sky preserves.
