BA starts selling its Basic fares to 10 destinations

British Airways has put new ‘Basic’ long-haul economy fares which exclude check-in luggage on sale to 10 destinations.


Basic fares from London to


Austin, Boston, Denver, Oakland, Philadelphia, Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), Dubai, Delhi, Singapore and Hong Kong will cost up to £60 less than standard economy return tickets. The fares are available to agents


through GDSs using Branded Fares pricing entries and not exclusive to those booking direct with BA – unlike the carrier’s new short- haul ‘direct products’ which offer “almost four times as many price points” as fares through GDSs. The cheaper fares exclude check-


in baggage and seat selection but include hand luggage, onboard food and drink, blankets, inflight entertainment and headphones. BA said it will “endeavour” to seat families together, but family
