The best of your letters, comments and social media this week Quarantine: Opinions split
Story: Call for home secretary to quit if government loses quarantine case Government is wrong here. There is no justification for not opening up to Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany etc. The mental health of the thousands of people losing jobs can no longer be ignored. Guest poster Portugal is still suffering badly with over 220 new infections daily. Spain and Italy have 300-plus new infections daily, Germany has 200-plus daily. The UK must keep lockdown until no new infections for at least seven days. Julie Drewls
Westoe Travel @westoetravel Graeme [Brett] and Monty the Mountie. Please call to book an appointment as we’ve been very busy.
P&O: Sales reps ‘critical’
Story: P&O says agents ‘vital’ as staff claim trade sales teams under threat Les Young-Richards: Very sad. The field-based sales reps are critical to us agents. Updates, cruise events, window and social deals, in-store meet-the-sales-rep days, cruise expert regional conference calls, training, issues with bookings, team prizes and lots more – who will do this now? They weren’t just sales reps, they were brand ambassadors and our “go to”. Very sad indeed if their years of experience go.
so helpful, Discover Egypt I would like to thank Philip Breckner of Discover Egypt for having been an absolute delight to deal with in these unusual times. He and his team have answered all my questions and have always been there at the end of the phone or email. It makes our jobs a lot easier. Rachel Horne, travel consultant, Premier Travel, Bury St Edmunds
Support: Thanks for being
Gatwick Airport @Gatwick_Airport Today we reopened our North Terminal and welcomed back the first @easyJet flights and passengers since March. This week, we will also welcome @TurkishAirlines @ryanair @belavia_by and Blue Islands.
Video calls: Boon or pain?
Story: Agents will re-evaluate work-life balance after Covid-19
I can’t wait for life without video calls – nothing more important than seeing people. Yes, virtual meetings can be very handy at times, but meeting people is the best way to build relationships. Emma Rodgers
Video calls will be another great way to communicate with customers, especially groups or friends who can’t get into branch to book. Simon Lamb
