Aer Lingus restarts Barbados service from Manchester
Aer Lingus has restarted its direct service from Manchester to Barbados. The airline will run three flights a week until April 30, operating on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays using an Airbus A330-300 aircraft. Fares start at £245 each way. Aer Lingus, which first operated the route last year, said it had restarted the service to “take advantage of the demand for winter sun”.

Air Canada starts daily flights
to Mumbai from Heathrow Air Canada has started its first direct service from Heathrow to Mumbai, India. The seasonal service to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj airport will operate daily until March 24, 2023, and is part of the airline’s resumption of flights between Toronto and Mumbai via London. Flights will be operated on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

Ryanair expands at Birmingham in 2023 with seven new routes
Ryanair is expanding its network from Birmingham with seven new routes for next summer. The carrier will operate more
than 350 flights a week in summer 2023, including new twice-weekly connections to Billund, Girona, Pisa, Santander, Stockholm, Toulouse and Venice. Additional frequencies from
Birmingham are also being added on 10 other routes, including Bergamo, Dublin, Madrid, Palma, Porto and Verona as part of a total network covering 42 destinations. The no-frills carrier is to base
a sixth Boeing 737 at the airport as part of the expansion. Ryanair chief executive Eddie
Wilson said the “rapid post-Covid growth” the airline had delivered at Birmingham equated to 50% more routes than prior to the pandemic and made Ryanair the leading airline at the airport.

Newmarket Holidays has put 18 dates on sale as part of an expanded range of Lapland Santa Experience Day Trips for 2023. The trips, which depart from regional airports
including Belfast, Cardiff and Norwich, include new departure points from Bristol and Luton. The expansion, from 12 to 18 dates in December
2023, follows high demand for day trips to Swedish Lapland this year. The tour operator offers the specially chartered
flights to ‘Santa’s airport’ Pajala and includes return transfers to Santa’s village, a private family meeting with Father Christmas, a snowmobile ride, a reindeer sleigh ride and husky sled ride. Trips also include a Christmas gift for every child;
thermal clothing, including gloves and boots; hot berry juice; and a lunch of Swedish meatballs. Head of trade sales Richard Forde said: “The

demand for 2022 dates has been particularly strong, with the majority of flights sold out by the summer. “We’ve been encouraged by the number of enquiries

early to “secure their place” due to the popularity of the festive trips. Prices start from £679 per adult and £599 per child. Newmarket Holidays hosts more than 2,500
customers on Santa day trips each year and has operated special charters for Lapland trips from 13 regional airports over the past 10 years.
