Ocean Florida seeks to sell through more of the UK trade
Ocean Florida is to scale up sales of packages via UK agents following a trial started in July 2020 in response to the pandemic. Te specialist operator had
previously only sold Florida holidays direct but has been selling villas via the trade for several years. Following limited distribution
through Te Travel Network Group, Advantage Travel Partnership and Barrhead Travel, the company now has more than 250 agents actively booking Florida, Caribbean beach holidays, New York hotels and California road trips. Distribution is now being
expanded to the wider UK trade with a team of 12, including eight dedicated sales staff. Agents are invited to join
Facebook group Ocean4Agents to receive details of offers and product updates as well as to access the trade sales team. Agents have the chance to
win a 12-night holiday for four to Florida in 2023 or 2024 with flights, villa, car hire and Ocean Explorer tickets all included. Ocean Florida sends more
than 30,000 passengers to Florida each year. Head of trade sales Ann- Maria Agar said: “We’re delighted to be expanding our offering to the wider travel trade and launching a holiday competition.”

If Only drops fifth of suppliers to focus on the most supportive

Luxury operator If Only has reduced the number of suppliers that it uses by 20% to ensure a greater focus on upmarket options and beter support for travel agents. General manager Gordon McCreadie said the
trade-only specialist had spent the past 20 months during the pandemic analysing its hoteliers, ground handlers, transport partners and excursion providers. “We wanted to make sure that we’re working with
partners that we feel fit with a luxury brand and which will be sure to give us support when we need it,” he told a Travel Weekly webcast. Te move means If Only can secure beter tactical
and exclusive deals to add value to bookings, such as room upgrades, spa treatments and meal plans. Remaining suppliers would also provide beter support for If Only and its agents on marketing
campaigns and fam trips, the operator said. “We’ve got some really exciting trips planned for
next year,” McCreadie added. If Only has also invested a “six-figure sum” in a new
reservation system and will launch a bookable website next year that will cater for agents with simpler bookings. McCreadie said the operator was seeing “some
challenges” with call wait times because customers were looking for numerous options and it was processing amended dates and those using refund credit notes. However, customers buying If Only holidays have
“some very sexy budgets” and are keen to travel, despite restrictions, he added. McCreadie is optimistic about sales in the peaks
booking period aſter Christmas because clients are “adamant” they want to take a holiday. “Tere is a real resilience from travellers to make sure
they get the holiday they want in the sun,” he added.
