HOW TO GET THERE: Most UK visitors fly to Hong Kong International Airport and catch a one-hour ferry from there or the Shun Tak ferry terminal or a 45-minute shuttle bus to Macao across the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Cathay Pacific flies direct to Hong Kong from Heathrow (five times a day), Gatwick (daily), Manchester (daily) and Dublin (four times a week). British Airways (twice-daily) and Virgin Atlantic (daily) also fly direct to Hong Kong from Heathrow. Macau International Airport serves multiple Asian destinations including Bali, Bangkok, Beijing, Singapore and Tokyo.
VISAS: No visa needed for British passport-holders for up to a six-month stay. Six months’ validity on passport required.
