Cunard hands out extra Shine points in booking incentive
Phil Davies
Agent members of Carnival UK’s Shine Reward Club are being given extra incentives to book Cunard cruises as itineraries on all four ships go on sale for the first time. Cunard will be giving away
4,000 Shine points a week to one winner and 400 points a day to another until June 21. Points can be redeemed against
options including a short-break sailing in January 2024 on board Queen Victoria (3,000 points), or a bottle of 3 Queens Gin (190 points). Agents can also earn more
Shine points by taking part in online quizzes. A dedicated hub for new ship
Queen Anne has been created for registered Shine Reward Club members, which allows them to share the latest news and announcements. More than 110 international
voyages are now on sale covering departures between October 23, 2023, and May 14, 2024.

Prices for a 35-night Eastern
Caribbean sailing, departing from Southampton on January 27, 2024, start from £5,099. Ports of call include Ponta Delgada, Azores; Port Canaveral, US; Sint Maarten; Basseterre, St Kitts; and Bridgetown, Barbados. Interest in new 3,000-passenger
ship Queen Anne led Cunard to claim its busiest single booking day in a decade last month. UK sales director Tom
Mahoney said: “We’re seeing record demand for Cunard as we welcome new ship Queen Anne to our iconic fleet. “As these new itineraries go
on sale we want to ensure our Shine Reward Club members reap the rewards of their hard work with more incentives via
our reward programme.”

9 JUNE 2022 21
HAL’s forthcoming 150-year anniversary in 2023, Rotterdam was named by HRH Princess Margriet of the
Netherlands in a ceremony that was full of emotion, including speeches by Carnival Corp president and
CEO Arnold Donald, HAL Group president Jan Swartz, Rotterdam captain Werner Timmers and the Lord Mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb. We were all close to tears when ship tailor Arnel
Sotto from the Philippines spoke about how his father was a tailor on Rotterdam V. In 1995, he convinced Arnel to head to sea aboard the ship, and 27 years later, he’s still on board, although his father sadly passed away last year. Arnel’s story emphasised the deep connections that staff on board have with the ships and our guests. For him, Holland America Line is more than a company, it’s a family. It was unbelievably touching to hear him and it reiterated for me just what this stunning brand is all about. You can get a flavour of the ceremony by
