David Moon @DavidMoon_ The Advantage Travel Partnership I wish @BorisJohnson and the @Conservatives would stop saying they are wrapping their arms around UK businesses. You’re not! 100,000s of travel jobs at risk. Sector-specific support is the only way forward for businesses which have had NO income for 6 months.

The best of your letters, comments and social media this week Carrick: What a sad decision
Story: Midcounties Co-operative to take on seven Carrick Travel branches This is so very sad to read. Tracey [Carter] and Tina [Nason], my thoughts are with you and with your teams. I know this must have been a very difficult decision to reach. If it’s any consolation, I am sure the business will be in good custodianship moving forwards with Rad and the [Midcounties] team. Every day there is fresh news of our beloved industry being further decimated, and it’s heartbreaking for those at the eye of the storm. Sending you my very best wishes at this challenging time. Lee Marshall
Dear MP: We are viable
Excerpt: From a letter sent to Felicity Buchan MP I wish to raise the matter of the concept of a viable job in the wake of the Job Support Scheme. Travel Gallery has traded as a travel agent for 34 years. We were a successful small business, employing five members of staff, making an annual profit and paying our taxes. We were a viable business, but I feel that our viability has been undermined by government policy, not by our own actions. The Job Support Scheme fails completely to understand the position imposed on us. Neil Dobbs, director, Travel Gallery

Thornton’s: Heartbreaking news
Story: Thornton’s Travel ceases trading after 80 years Julie Croucher: Heartbreaking that so many firms are collapsing through none of their faults. The government has failed us. Gemma Lazenby: So sorry for the lovely staff in both branches. John McEwan: Very sad. An excellent agency with a rich heritage.
