Deben Travel @DebenTravel Great speaking with @BBCSuffolk radio this morning discussing prospects for overseas travel. Let’s wait and see what announcements are made this week...

The best of your letters, comments and social media this week Atol reform: Proposal is ‘just a plaster’

Story: CAA proposes major changes to Atol regime Surely this would be putting a plaster over Atol, which is no longer fit for purpose. The current APC charge should be replaced by a booking fee taken at source by the merchant provider from the supplier. The cost of each transaction would determine the charge from the card provider and thus the risk and reward would sit with said supplier. The merchant supplier(s) would control the money and repatriation, and there would no longer be a need for the Air Travel Trust fund. The Atol scheme was set up many moons ago and worked then. Now, with all things online, a fair digital solution is needed. Philip

About time. Companies should have properly-financed working capital and not completely rely on prepayments from customers. Dermot

Barrhead Travel @BarrheadTravel When we asked our teams to take to the floors of their stores, home offices, gardens or kitchens to show us their dance moves & get up on their feet this week, we didn’t expect how seriously they took the brief! Check out our teams celebrating On Your Feet Britain Day yesterday.

Testing: Hats off to Hays

Story: Hays Travel strikes £45 PCR testing deal This is really what everyone in the travel industry should aim for. The pandemic has created a greedy culture from all sectors bar none, but hopefully this will kick-start the return of the ‘customer satisfaction’ ethos. Well done, Hays Travel. A Sadiq

Mike Wood @Bessy645

If anyone suggested farmers just needed a few weeks to get crops ready from zero you would think them mad, yet political leaders think the travel industry can. Their lack of knowledge or concern for 12% of GDP is frightening.
