Scenic Group’s first hybrid vessel Ikon to debut in 2028 110
Scenic Group’s new Discovery Yacht Scenic Ikon will be the company’s first hybrid ship. The 270-passenger luxury
vessel will be able to sail for up to three hours on battery power without using fuel or turning on its engines, which will enable it to enter smaller ports. It will also be able to plug into
shore power and will have a more efficient hydrodynamic hull to
improve fuel efficiency. Ikon’s maiden season between
April 2028 and March 2029 will feature 110 ports in 21 countries, including 26 new destinations. Cruises span the Mediterranean,
Aegean, Egypt, Cape Verde Islands, Dakar, Antarctica, Falkland Islands and Chilean fjords. Featured itineraries include the
11-day Iconic Italy & the French Riviera, sailing from Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy, to Barcelona, leading in from €11,145. Another highlight is the 13-day

Antarctica in Depth itinerary, which sails round-trip from Ushuaia, Argentina, and leads in from £16,624. Founder and chairman Glen
Moroney said: “This is going to be the first hybrid ship that we have ever built, which is important because we are seeing a huge pushback against mega- ships going to these particularly sensitive ports, like Venice, Amsterdam and Dubrovnik. “These destinations are limiting
numbers and that is only going to increase as time goes on,” he said. “They are encouraging this type of ship and tourism that is high-quality and high-value small numbers that can integrate into
local communities.”

Disney’s recently launched digital destination, PixieDust HQ, brings a wealth of resources, training
and updates to travel professionals, combining Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Paris and Disney Cruise Line knowledge in one immersive platform.
FLEUR WHITBY from Tui’s Bracknell branch shares what she loves about the new platform:
“I’ve been to Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney World Resort and I’m excited to experience a Disney Cruise soon. I love that on PixieDust HQ (PDHQ), all the information is in one place and it’s available both on desktop and in the app. I’m on PDHQ almost every day! I use it to check campaigns, hotel information and I have really enjoyed completing the training. It’s an incredibly valuable tool for training and support. The Resource Library is so helpful; it has everything from factsheets and pocket guides to downloadable brochures I can share with clients. The platform is so interactive and personalised – it gives me a little Disney boost each time I log in! It’s easy to navigate and see your training progress. I’ve been collecting reward points and have 300 so far. I’ve unlocked some amazing incentives, including Exclusive Travel Professional rates and offers, and even a one-day ticket for Walt Disney World Resort!”
