heat recovery system to optimise energy use and special glass panelling to minimise heat loss. The 158-passenger vessel,

which is a sister ship to Amadeus Aurea, will sail the Rhine, Main

and Danube rivers. Bookings are expected to open in January 2026. Founder and chief executive Wolfgang Lüftner said: “On

to launch next year, will serve as a blueprint for the next generation of ships, with three further new-builds set to join the fleet in 2027. The 154-passenger ship, inspired by Emilie Flöge,

the muse of Viennese painter Gustav Klimt, will have features to reduce fuel usage and emissions and increase efficiency, such as an optimised hull and bow design, advanced data and navigation programmes and engine aftertreatment systems. It will also have heat recovery systems and battery packs to store excess energy from generators or shore power to prevent power waste, and

new gym equipment to reduce electrical reliance. The lead-in price for SS Emilie, which will operate

Danube sailings, is £2,899 for the seven-night Vineyards & Palaces along the Danube, departing on June 21, 2026. Uniworld has appointed the company’s chief

sustainability officer, Julie Higgins, as godmother to reflect the eco-friendly focus of the ship. President and chief executive Ellen Bettridge

said: “Julie’s unwavering dedication to advancing our sustainability goals makes her the perfect godmother for the SS Emilie. This ship represents the next era of river cruising at Uniworld, where conscious design and exceptional luxury seamlessly coexist. Julie is an instrumental part of our team, and we’re incredibly proud to see her christen this vessel as a symbol of our shared commitment to a more sustainable future.” uniworld.com
