P&O Cruises has further strengthened its relationship with the Cateys by confirming its head- line sponsorship of the awards. P&O Cruises, which is part of

Carnival Corporation & PLC, has chosen to partner with The Caterer to align its business more closely with the event that is considered the Oscars of the hospitality industry, and further demon- strate its commitment to excel- lence in travel and hospitality. The Cateys, taking place at JW

Affluent guests are increasingly likely to book a hotel based on the availability of wellness facilities such as a spa or yoga classes, according to a survey by PoB Hotels. Half of respondents said well-

ness facilities were “somewhat or very important” to them when booking a hotel. Almost one in four (24%) emerging and high-net-worth (HNW) individuals, defined as people with investible assets worth more than £500,000, said these services were “very important”. The findings were published

in PoB’s first white paper, which was based on a survey of 3,100 people, including 200 affluent and HNW individuals, by wealth insights brand Altiant in September. A further 2,900 UK respondents were sampled from PoB’s database. Kalindi Juneja, chief execu-

At some properties it’s eating or drinking a particu- lar dish, at another it is having a particular treatment. Wellness can be achieved with whatever space you have.” Roughly 70% of PoB’s 54 hotels have a spa. “A key element that people

are hoping for out of a UK break is that even when they are going for one night, they want to be able to switch off immedi- ately,” Juneja added. “It’s been challenging for hotel-

its member hotels such as Lucknam Park and Calcot Spa a chance to attract local clientele through external membership programmes. “It’s a key element for a hotel, particularly during quieter peri- ods,” she added. The report found demand for staycations remained strong, with 97% of respondents planning to take at least one UK holiday in the next year, while 54% said they were taking three or more. The south-west of England

was the region of choice for travellers in 2024, with 59% planning trips to the area, fol- lowed by the north-east of Eng- land (46%) and Scotland (45%). Some 82% of respondents

said they chose where to book based on the food and drink options. Pride of Britain Hotels relaunched as PoB Hotels in February this year. The con- sortium was founded in 1982 to offer properties marketing support in return for an annual membership fee.
