WE HEAR FROM LIGEIA I am delighted that THE TOMB
OF LIGEIA was featured in the last issue of VIDEO WATCHDOG with my audio commentary [VW 24:48]. I have happy memories of the movie, and it was a special pleasure to work with Vincent Price, a man of such grace and heart and wit. However, 1 was wryly smiling when I read your comments regarding my partici­ pation in THE AVENGERS, per­ petuating the official version of why I left the role of Emma Peel. The full story provides the truly “wry comic touch.” When I was cast, the produc­
ers said to me: “We are putting the show on film because we believe it can be ten times better than it was on tape, and we wel­ come your ideas." I was naive enough to take them at their word, and in my enthusiasm, 1 inundated them with ideas! How­ ever, it was still the days when

JURASSIC PARK— MISSING SCENE?
Am I the only person who has
noticed—or cares about—a miss­ ing scene (slight though it may be) in JURASSIC PARK? A friend and I watched the first issue of Jurassic Park on tape. Laura Dern’s character is in one of the jeeps after arriving at the island. Then she is holding and examin­ ing a leaf. Knowingly, 1 said to my friend,
“ If we were watching this on let- terboxed laserdisc, we would have seen her reach out and pull the leaf off a tree/bush.” Surprise, surprise! When I pur­ chased the laserdisc, the scene
of Laura grabbing the leaf was missing! I wrote to MCA/Gniver- sal asking for a new disc, as this one must be defective... but no response. Three questions: Does any­
one care? Is the label maker ob­ ligated to replace the disc, since a scene has been omitted? How do I get a replacement disc? John F. La Rue

Three answers: Yes, bio and You Don ’t Need One. The scene you mention—
showing Dem pulling a leaf from a branch as her jeep drives be­ low—was part of Universal’s “Making of" promos and was
shown countless times on TV; it was not included in the film ’s final cut.
