GLASGOW International Airpor t Managing Director Mark Johnston couldn’t hide his delight at Pacific Building’s performance. He wrote to MD Brian Gallacher after
the project was completed to heap praise on the company. He said: “I wanted to take the time to
thank you personally for the part Pacific played in ensuring the introduction of the Emirates Airbus A380 service from Glasgow to Dubai was a success. “The arrival of the A380 captured the
imagination of the country and we are proud that this was not only a landmark occasion for Glasgow Airport but a first in Scottish aviation history. “The professionalism and commitment
shown by your team i s greatl y appreciated.”

Taylor and contracts surveyor Martyn Duffy, who rounded off the Pacific contingent tasked with delivering the high-profile project at Gate 30. The Airbus A380, which is the world’s largest passenger airliner capable of
carrying up to an incredible 850 passengers, will fly daily between Glasgow and Dubai with a complement of about 580 travellers. There was no room for manoeuvre on
the 10-week timescale, with tickets for the first flight having already been sold, so even a short delay was not an option.
