Thoughts once again turn to Nuremberg as we approach 2022. But when we do return, it’ll be against a backdrop of optimism and achievement of which we can be rightly proud


IN THE FIRST EDITION OF THIS MAGAZINE, WE CARRIED A DETAILED FEATURE ABOUT NUREMBERG, ITS ATTRACTIONS, its nightlife, a few quirks and just a little bit of history. The intention was to welcome visitors, give them a sense of the city and encourage them to explore beyond the walls of the Exhibition Centre. At the time of writing, I recall a sense of excitement over the fact that, aside from the business aspect of the fair, there were richly cultural ones that reminded us why we were there, in particular. Sadly, in the event, the words and images only served to remind us of what is was we were missing. Hopefully, the features within this issue – covering everything from conveyor belts to sustainable cement – and the many initiatives and solutions displayed by our advertisers, paint a picture of an industry that has quietly been getting on with things and is now on the up. If that doesn’t convince, see what we have to say about the level of corporate expansions on page 34. As for us, the webinar series of Virtual Talks, not to mention the 200-exhibitor-strong IPB China, has bridged


the gap, keeping issues such as additive manufacturing, the filling and packaging of bulk solids and environment- related issues very much alive. So far, each round of those talks have brought together three experts representing longstanding POWTECH exhibitors or end-users to discuss a specific topic and they regularly attract 150-200 participants from all around the world, cementing their credentials as a popular meeting place for professional and targeted knowledge-sharing. But our review on page 14 reminds us of the exceptional facilities that await us in Bavaria and how fortunate we are to have such a well-established relationship with one of Europe’s premiere venues. Aside from the quality of the facilities, it is one of four German venues that rank among the world’s top ten in terms of size, making the country something of a mecca for the exhibition industry. For anyone who hasn’t yet visited, be assured, you’re in for a treat.
