ielce is a city which enjoys a special bond with nature. Within the city limits there are fi ve natural reserves and not far away is the Swietokrzyski National Park preserving the mountain fi r forests and vast rocky areas. The highly varied geological structure of the Swietokrzyskie Mountains can be seen in the Museum of Geological Specimens. The many slopes that are within easy reach of the city
are covered with numerous ski lifts for winter sport enthusiasts. The many tourist trails that link the various historical sites from diff erent periods of Polish history cross in Kielce. The oldest of which include the Neolithic fl int quarry in Krzemionki Opatowskie. It is hard to leave out the Lysica Cloisters and Checiny Castle as well as the Museum of the Kielce Countryside in Tokarnia. The museums in the city itself are also well worth a visit. The largest one includes a division of the National Museum in the Krakow, the Bishops Palace, which is located in the city centre. Since the history of Kielce is closely tied with the history of the Ecclesiastical See, to have a fuller picture of the city’s heritage, visitors should also visit
the Diocesan Museum. In order to get an idea of the living conditions of both the Polish gentry and commoners, visitors are welcomed at the romantic mansion of the Laszczyk family built entirely from larch wood. The Swietokrzyskie Mountains
are home to a special species of coniferous tree that has been prized for hundreds of years. The Larix Polonica, or commonly known as the Polish larch, can also be found in other parts of the country, but there is a diff erent species that can only be found in these mountains. Other unique collections can be
