Five VMCs meet choice of environments
Five vertical machining centres (VMCs) make up the XP range from Dugard. The mid-range
VMCs range from 762 to 2060mm x axis travel. They feature bigger ballscrews and bigger guideways for a more robust working environment. There are also machine options like fourth axis units, Renishaw probing and toolsetting as well as Fanuc, Siemens or Heidenhain control options, designed to meet a variety of machining environments. The smallest is the
760XP (pictured), which has a 762/435/520mm x/y/z axis travel, a powerful 16.5kW,
12,000rpm spindle and 28-station, side-mounted toolchanger. It has a compact footprint of just 2696 x 2200mm. Next is the 1000XP. This one metre machining centre has 1050/540/560mm x/y/z axis travel, 12,000rpm spindle, 44m/ min rapids in x and y and 25m/min rapids in z and a 36-station BT40 toolchanger. The other models, the 1350XP, 1600XP and 2000XP include standard features such as 36 tools, BT40 and 12,000rpm spindle.

Collaboration yields
passive pallet system Contract design and manufacturer, Clinc, was involved in the development and supply of components for an innovative passive pallet shipper system. Working closely with the client throughout the development phase, the company offered valuable engineering and DFM expertise on a wide range of aspects for the final design. The system is now in production and Clinc is pleased to be
manufacturing many of the major components which include complex aluminium/plastic extrusions, a precision welded aluminium door frame, CNC machined components and various injection moulded parts.

Problem solving sparks innovation
By engineering programmable power supplies and test systems, ETPS says it provides problem solving skills to spark innovation to leading technology brands. At the show the
company launched the Lab-Auto DC power supply. In-built auto- ranging means a greater number of voltage and current combinations are possible within the unit’s nominal power rating. Therefore several conventional DC sources can often be replaced with just one system, saving both cost and bench space, says the company. Constant voltage, current and power modes are

provided as standard. Each unit has a programmable internal resistance range, making it suitable for simulating the output of energy storage devices in test rigs. Up to 8,000 sets of
programmed memories for V, A, W and time values can be stored within the internal memory. This allows common test routines to be executed at the touch of a button. Single units are available
with outputs up to 15kW. Up to 10 power supplies can be combined in parallel to create high power systems up to 150kW.
