1. Interdisciplinary Team 1.1
Establish an interdisciplinary team to be responsi- ble for oversight of the medical device and product evaluation process. [Conditional Recommendation] Health care organizations use different titles to
refer to interdisciplinary teams with responsibility for oversight of medical device and product evalua- tion; these titles include product selection commit- tee, medical device and product evaluation com-

mittee, purchasing committee, and value analysis committee. Moderate-quality evidence supports an interdisciplinary team approach to the medical device and product evaluation process.1-9
1.2 Perioperative RNs should have an active role in the evaluation and selection of perioperative products.2,3,6,7,10,11
[Recommendation]
Moderate-quality evidence from qualitative research studies indicates that RNs as stakeholders can provide clinical, safety, and device-user experi- ence that may help to determine the value of a product under evaluation. In a qualitative study conducted in five hospitals in the United Kingdom, Hinrichs et al4
identified
stakeholders with authority for making purchasing decisions and examined the challenges of promot- ing patient safety during the purchasing process.
