Community-driven solution redefi nes one of London’s most prestigious shopping streets

S

loane Street, in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC), is a world-renowned shopping destination

lined with fl agship stores, luxury hotels, and Georgian architecture. Its regeneration, led by Cadogan in partnership with RBKC, aimed to reaffi rm the street’s prestige while enhancing residents’ quality of life. As a long-term supplier to RBKC, Urbis Schréder was commissioned by lighting design consultancy LAPD to deliver a bespoke

lighting scheme for the 1km public realm. Collaboration with The Kensington Society ensured the design refl ected community values and the street’s distinctive heritage. CARLTON lanterns were selected for their timeless heritage style – large units illuminate the roadway while smaller, lower-mounted versions provide warm, low-glare light for pedestrians. Custom 2700K LED sources from

Pudsey Diamond enhance safety,

accessibility, and comfort. Inspired by Holy Trinity Church and its Arts and Crafts heritage, bespoke metalwork was created with John McAslan Architects, Bethan Griffi ths (Topp & Co.), and LAPD. Cast fi nials, brackets, and base details give each column a unique, handcrafted character. Energy-effi cient LEDs reduce consumption and light spill, supporting RBKC’s greening strategy and promoting biodiversity. Delivered by FM Conway on behalf of Cadogan and RBKC, the scheme embodies collaboration, placemaking, and sustainability – reinforcing

Sloane Street’s identity as a luxury destination and a vibrant community. Let’s collaborate on your next project – whether its illuminating monuments, retrofi tting infrastructure,

or revitalising

public squares. sales@urbis-schreder.com
