Sto render system specifi ed for development
Sto’s StoRend Flex render system was specifi ed for use on a high-profi le development of luxurious and sustainable homes built in Norfolk. “In order to minimise energy consumption, the Passivhaus Plus standard sets out very specifi c criteria for construction, insulation and ventilation systems,”
explains Sto’s head of sales, Ashley Wainwright. “This meant that the materials specifi ed had to satisfy extremely demanding performance standards, and the StoRend Flex render system was certainly able to achieve this.” The StoRend Flex synthetic render system provides a highly fl exible, rugged and crack-resistant exterior render fi nish.

The FramePro W1 air barrier system from the A. Proctor Group has been chosen for a new modular Passivhaus Plus housing project in Cardiff. This innovative project will provide essential housing for Cardiff’s homeless population. It is designed by Beattie Passive using its award-winning, patented design and build system, which the company says is the UK’s fi rst certifi ed Passivhaus Complete Build System. The FramePro W1 system was chosen as an external air barrier. The system comprises FramePro W1, a low-resistance vapour permeable air barrier for walls, plus Wraptite®
Tape. Ron Beattie, Managing Director at Beattie Passive, explains:
“FramePro W1 is an excellent barrier system that provides complete protection from “windwashing” and the effects of wind penetration and moisture management in buildings. In addition, the system is easy to use and apply, easy to joint, and won’t tear.” Another benefi t of the FramePro W1 system is that applying it externally simplifi es the process, maintaining the building’s integrity, as there are fewer building services and structural penetrations to be sealed.

The award of a new BBA certifi cate has underlined the quality and performance of the StoVentec Glass A system from Sto, and provides
assessment
that the system can be used on buildings above 18m in height, with a reaction to
fi re classifi cation of A2-s1, d0. The StoVentec Glass A system can be used as a protective or decorative facade cladding over the external walls of new or existing buildings, or alternatively as an internal wall lining. The new certifi cate looks set to increase the popularity of the StoVentec Glass A system, which has already been used on a wide variety of projects.
