OTHER BERTHING INFORMATION Annual Moorings


Annual residential moorings are located throughout the river (between Dartmouth and Totnes) with a concentration in Dartmouth. There are a variety of mooring types and water depths (mud, very shallow, shallow and deep). These include pontoons with water and electricity, trot moorings, swinging moorings, running moorings and dinghy/tender pontoons and racks.


Customer demand for different mooring types varies for the different mooring locations. The less popular locations, such as shallow water swinging moorings, in quiet areas like Cornworthy or Galmpton may be available for some boat lengths without a lengthy wait, whereas moorings with a high demand, like the pontoons in Kingswear (with water and electricity), the walk ashore small boat pontoons in Dartmouth and the pontoon in Stoke Gabriel have lengthy waiting lists (between 8 to 10 years).


Customers may pay their annual mooring fees using our payment by instalments option, with fees paid in 3 equal payments. They will fall due on the 1st 1st


April, 1st June and August - a 5% levy is added to cover fees. If you would


like to take advantage of this option please contact the office who will be pleased to set it up for you.


Waiting Lists


Once you have considered what mooring types and locations would be appropriate for your boat, then you can apply to join one or more lists for your boat using the forms available at www.dartharbour.org/annual-berth- holders. The costs associated with this are;


Main Boat Refundable Deposit of £150 Registration fee for each area you select of £15


Dinghy/Tender Refundable Deposit of £50 Registration fee for each area you select of £10 Dart Harbour staff are always pleased to discuss your individual needs with you, if you have any questions, please do contact the Harbour Office.


Temporary Berths Temporary berths are sometimes available for waiting list applicants. Please register at the Harbour Office from 1st the following year – e.g. 2025 for 2026).

Lifejacket lockers Lockers provided by the RNLI are on the Yacht Club and Double Steps Pontoons (see centre pull-out pages for location) . These are for the use of those who come ashore using tenders, dinghies and other personal watercraſt. The lockers can be operated with a £1.00 coin which is refunded when the locker is opened.


Winter Berths


Dart Harbour normally have a variety of moorings, that are suitable for a vessels of all sizes, available to let during the winter time. The winter let period is from 1st October to the 31st March and we start a waiting list for winter moorings on the 1st July each year.


Our procedure for winter moorings is as follows:- Early September – We contact our berth holders and ask them whether their boat will be afloat or liſted out. Mid September onwards – we match available berths with the winter waiting list.


Visitors Pontoons are also used for winter berthing.

Launching Facilities A public slipway is located in Dartmouth alongside the Higher Car Ferry. Harbour Dues are payable to the Harbour Office or River Officer.


Please note there is no parking or trailer storage, so this facility can only be used to “slip” and go with the aid of a vehicle driver. At this time there is no facility to park a trailer in Dartmouth or to leave one at the Dartmouth Park and ride.


There are also private, chargeable launching facilities by arrangement at Darthaven Marina, Blackness Marine and Premier Marina (Noss).


Other public slipways at Dittisham, Greenway Quay, Stoke Gabriel and at Totnes (downstream from Steamer Quay).


Harbour Dues are payable for vessels using the river either to a River Patrol or at the Harbour Office.
