Raj Shah honoured with Eagle Award

The American Society for Testing and Materials International presented Dr. Raj Shah, currently a Director at Koehler Instrument Company in New York, with its prestigious Eagle Award at a recent meeting. The award honours exceptional meritorious service within ASTM International, a global standards organisation that develops and publishes voluntary consensus technical standards for a number of materials, products, systems and services. Dr. Shah, who has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University, has spent the last 20 years as a technical office bearer of ASTM International, specifically ASTM Committee D02.

ASTM Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants was formed in 1904, and has so far presented the Eagle Award to less than 25 individuals. The D02 committee, with a current membership of approximately 2500 industry professionals and experts,

has jurisdiction over 814 standards, published in six volumes of the Annual Book of ASTM Standards. These play a preeminent role in all aspects relating to the standardisation of Petroleum Products and Lubricants.

According to an ASTM citation for the award, Dr. Shah received the Eagle Award for his “distinguished leadership as well as significant contributions to the standardisation process over the last many decades.”

A distinguished alumni award recipient from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, who has previously been honoured on numerous occasions, Dr. Shah is currently involved in working with various other universities internationally.

Dr. Shah was extremely honoured and humbled to receive this recognition and credited it to all of his mentors,

colleagues and friends in the lubricant industry who have offered invaluable guidance and help to him over the years.

Vacuum Grease Market by Type, by Application, by Region - Global Forecast to 2020

Vacuum grease is a lubricant which has low volatility. It is resistant to alcohols, esters, alkalis, and water. As a sealant, it is used in the joints in vacuum systems. It also helps provide protection from corrosion and fusing, leading to lower wear for components and equipment thus prolonging their life. It is also added to valves, bearings, and O-rings for their smooth functioning. Vacuum grease provides lubrication to laboratory & industrial equipment, binoculars, and telescopes. It has applications in both high-pressure and low-pressure situations and is compatible with metals, plastics, and rubbers.

Our new study aims to estimate the global market of vacuum grease for 2015 and to project its estimated demand by 2020. This market research study provides a detailed qualitative and quantitative analysis of the global vacuum grease market.

The primary sources – experts from related industries and suppliers – have been interviewed to obtain and verify critical information as well as to assess the future prospects of vacuum grease market. Competitive scenario of the top players in the vacuum grease market has also been discussed in detail. Meanwhile, various secondary sources, such as directories, industry journals, and databases have been used to identify and collect information useful for this extensive, commercial study of the vacuum grease market.
