Editor’s Desk

As the summer settles in, so too does one of the most technically charged editions of LUBE Magazine this year. In our August issue, we dive deep into the world of metalworking fluids and additives—a sector that continues to evolve with remarkable pace, complexity, and environmental scrutiny.

Our feature line-up reflects a vibrant cross-section of the challenges and innovations shaping this space. From biodegradable additive technologies discussed by Srdjan Sokolovic, to advanced driveline solutions from Afton and OEM strategy shifts in the EV sector from Chevron Oronite, this issue captures how formulators, suppliers and end-users are adapting to global trends, sustainability mandates and market pressures.

We mark the 25th anniversary of the MWFPSG—an important milestone for an organisation that has long supported best practice in metalworking fluids. We also welcome insights from industry leaders including Lubrizol, TotalEnergies, and Fuchs, who explore the latest in performance, compliance, and formulation approaches in metalworking.

Elsewhere in the issue, we bring our regular updates from UKLA, UEIL, VLS, and GEIR, along with a country report from South Africa, and new UKLA Member profile - Adipro, and a Lube-Tech on Breaking the cycle of white etching cracks from NEOL.

Our interviewee in this issue is Steve Mayo, Lubricants Live Podcast, offering quick-fire insights into his career and the future of the sector. Plus, we round up news, appointments, conference previews and more.
