NEW SERVICE FOR LUBRICANTS INDUSTRY

OATS maint ain a database of Manufacturers'


Lubricant recommendations which is supplied on subscription to the Lubricants industry, including most of the oil majors. OATS have just launched a new service to provide affordable 'Grades Guides' for smaller oil companies.


Many medium to smaller lubricants


companies have for some considerable time wanted access to recommendation booklets to improve the professionalism of their own product marketing. The high labour cost associated with producing these branded recommendation booklets has in the past resulted in them only being affordable by larger companies.


By using improved database technology and


an innovative approach, OATS has now developed the capability to produce booklets in short runs. Sebastian Crawshaw, Commercial Director of OATS commented "This has transformed the costs of producing high quality recommendation booklets. We can now maintain the branded booklets on a continuous basis for customers. Companies of whatever size will be able to contract with OATS to maintain their Grades Guides. When a new set of booklets is required they can be produced with the minimum of delay. Customers will be able to call off revisions as required. No stock, no scrap, no hassle! "


Up to date and ISO compliant


Those companies who are accredited to BS EN ISO 9000 see the ability to be able to produce 'bang up-to-date' bookl et s conta ini ng latest information, an absolute necessity to ensure they comply with the rigours of their quality system. It seems that OATS are aware that at present many companies' books are out of date almost as soon as they are published . Clients using OATS new system can ensure that all recommendation booklets they have produced by OATS will be up to date all the time and that out of date information is a thing of the past. This looks like a service which could be very useful to BLF members.


Already OATS' clients are responding well.


In conversation at the recent BLF conference John Hunt, OATS' Technical Manager was delighted by the response: "It shows that the strategy of product innovation which OATS has been pursuing is working. Clients are beginning to appreciate that they can now keep their 'own' Grade Guides up-to-date whilst spreading the costs evenly across the year."
