The "Hot-Shots"


Once again, the Penns Hall Hotel at Sutton Coldfield provided the venue for this popular event. The BLF was formally represented by Ian Meadows, BLF Vice-President. The dancing, at this January event, was to the music of Summer Breeze, a group of presumably Australian origin, who provided the right sort of sounds at volume levels considered normal amongst habitual socialisers suffering from Noise Induced Hearing Loss.


The organisers had obviously taken a leaf from the book of the organisers of the equally-popular Leeds Dinner Dance in providing interval entertainment in the form (or forms?) of the delightful "Hot-Shots", a group of young la dies who

CHEMICAL LABELLING


Just when many companies are feeling happy enough that they have come to terms with the C.P.L. labelling regulations, along comes CHIPS.


CHIPS- Chemicals (Hazard Information and Packaging) -is a new set of regulations which will supercede C.P.L. It is widely believed that they will be implemented in early 1994.

succeeded in ma king many old men very happy (and many ha ppy men very old!). Even the formidable combination of Ian Meadows reciting Robbie Burns, and bra-wielding branch chairman a nd event organiser Phil Law, had difficulty in competing for top entertainment honours with this troupe of dancers who were shortly to represent the U.K. in America.


In spite of the tenacity of the current recession, the event was well-supported and thoroughly enjoyed by a ll. Following the current philosophy of continuous improvement, the mind boggles at the prospect of the entertainment lined up for next years' event!
