Fiction (p34) and Non-Fiction (p35) charts in full

2018’s paperback release of Origin, it is enough to earn Brown his 86th week at the top of the Mass-Market Fiction (MMF) chart – 66 weeks of which belong to The Da Vinci Code. Proving that chart positions are

not always everything, the previous number one – both in the MMF Top 20 and the UK Top 50 – The Correspondent by Virginia Evans has slipped from the top spot, despite growing its sales by 27.7% to 17,362 copies. Freida McFadden’s The Divorce also slips down one place, with sales dropping to 8.1% to 11,587 copies in its sixth week on sale. Another book that has moved

in two directions is Patrick Radden Keefe’s London Falling – while its sales have reduced by 2% to 3,673 copies, it has moved up two places and returns to the top of the Hardback Non-Fiction (HBNF) Top 20, having more than twice as many as its nearest rival, Jamie Oliver’s BBQ. The Land and Its People by David

Sedaris is the most popular new entry of the week in the HBNF Top 20. The first collection of essays from Sedaris since 2022’s

BookScan TCM volume 3,453,046 20% week on week BookScan TCM value (£) 32,716,985 19.1% week on week

Happy-Go-Lucky has sold 1,644 copies in its first week – a 197.8% increase on the equivalent period for its predecessor – securing third place in the HBNF chart. Like others in the chart this week,

there are mixed fortunes for Caro Claire Burke’s Yesteryear – it has grown its sales by 9.6% to 6,861 copies, but slips from the top of the Original Fiction Top 20 thanks to a new release from Lisa Jewell. It Could Have Been Her has sold 11,222 copies in its first week on sale, down 6.9% from the 12,051 copies that Don’t Let Him In achieved in the same week – though, despite the higher sales

figure, it did not achieve first place in that week. Following another week in which

Sarah Wynn-Williams made head- lines by not uttering a word, Careless People has returned to the top of the Paperback Non-Fiction (PBNF) Top 20 with 10,109 copies sold – not only is that a 558.1% increase on the previ- ous week, it is also the first time it has achieved a five-digit sales figure. The bestselling new release in

the PBNF chart is Susie Wolff’s Driven, which has parked itself in 14th place following 1,495 copies passing through bookshop tills across the country. The hardback edition of Wolff’s biography has sold 16,111 copies since it was released in October 2025. As temperatures dropped across

the UK to slightly more tolerable figures, the number of books sold across the country rose a massive 20% to 3.5 million – with value climb- ing 19.1% to £32.7m. It is a good result compared to this week in 2025, too – volume is up 6.9%, with value stretching even further, up 8.8%.
