Mecaer Aviation Group to Supply Landing Gear for Urban Air Mobility Leader, Archer Aviation

Mecaer Aviation Group and Archer Aviation Inc. recently entered into an agreement for the design, development, qualification, and supply of landing gear for Archer’s piloted-plus-four-passenger eVTOL aircraft, named “Midnight.” Mecaer’s extensive design expertise and its years of production experience across demanding programs were decisive factors in Archer selecting Mecaer as its partner of choice for the supply of the landing gear system.

Archer works to incorporate the latest advancements in technology into its aircraft to draw on its safety benefits, and accommodate the unique elements of its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. As such, Archer has selected Mecaer to supply its landing gear systems, which will enable conventional and vertical takeoff and landing at a high utilization frequency and low maintenance cost. The partnership adds another high-profile customer to Mecaer’s growing portfolio, while also demonstrating Archer’s continued momentum as it moves toward its goal of achieving Type Certification for its production aircraft in 2024.

“Partnering with industry-leading suppliers to source the components, technologies, and systems needed to manufacture our Midnight aircraft is an important step in our path towards commercialization,” said Adam Goldstein, Archer’s CEO. “Mecaer’s well-established track record of delivering high- quality, high-reliability aircraft systems aligns well with Archer’s commitment to safety when it comes to the design, manufacturing, and operation of our aircraft.”

Through the development of new products, expertise and technologies, Mecaer has strengthened its competitive edge by participating in innovative projects as part of strategic partnerships with original equipment manufacturers or industrial groups that supply sophisticated products in the aerospace and defense sector.

“We’re thrilled to add Archer, an industry leader in the emerging field of urban air mobility, to our growing list of world-class customers,” said Bruno Spagnolini, Mecaer’s CEO. “Archer is pioneering the future of affordable, sustainable, and safe urban air mobility. We’re proud to be part of their mission and help contribute to the future of urban transportation.”

Blueberry Aviation Announces its EVTOL Partner Dufour Aerospace has Reached Agreement with Spright, Air Methods’ Medical Drone Program

Spright recently placed an order for up to 140 Aero2 products. The companies are simultaneously entering a product development cooperation agreement, and Spright will assist Aero2’s FAA certification process and provide maintenance and training facilities in North America. The Aero2, which is due to be delivered early 2025, will be mainly used by Spright for transportation, medication, and patient specimens such as organs or blood for up to a 40-kilogram payload and 300-kilometer range.

“This is an incredibly strong vote of confidence for Dufour Aerospace design and technology from one of the two largest EMS operators worldwide, This selection comports with the Aero product’s unique performance in terms of payload, range and speed,” comments Francois Gautier, Blueberry Aviation’s CEO.

“We are delighted by the confidence shown by Spright in Dufour Aerospace, evidenced by today’s purchase announcement for the Aero2. Our partnership, which extends far beyond unit sales of Aero2, is a significant milestone for us in our development of tilt- wing unmanned and manned products for advanced air mobility. Spright’s commitment shows that there is great market potential for Aero2 for safe and efficient medium- and long-range operations with unmanned aerial vehicles,” said Thomas Pfammatter, CEO of Dufour Aerospace.

“Dufour Aerospace has developed an impressive ‘Swiss Army Knife’ for unmanned air mobility that will meet our anticipated future needs,” said Spright President Joseph Resnik. “With today’s announcement, we demonstrate our commitment to their vision and to their technological approach, in which we are proud to be the first operator in the U.S. This is a multi-year and multi- million-dollar commitment by Spright, and it will enable us to serve the critical goods distribution markets efficiently.”
