HANGAR TALK UAS & eVTOL NEWS RELATING TO UNCrewed, AAM & eVTOL SYSTEMS

Dronetag BS Proves Remote ID is No Bullsh*t

Dronetag recently announced the launch of its groundbreaking drone device for remote Identification. It is the most affordable device for all aeromodelers, FPV pilots, and hobbyists to comply with new FAA standards. It comes with a poetic name, “Dronetag BS,” which stands for “Basic Solution,” but it also refers to what hobby pilots most often call the new Remote ID policy.

Phenix ‘Half-Pint’ Completes Company Flight Test in McMinnville, Oregon

Phenix Solutions recently announced the successful completion of a recent company flight test of its multi-capable distribution platform demonstrator, affectionately known as “Half-Pint.” It was showcased alongside the company’s larger heavy-lift UAS aircraft, the Ultra 2XL, in Atlanta at HAI Heli-Expo in March 2023. Since Heli-Expo, Phenix Solutions prepared Half-Pint for medium utility lift system flight tests at its FAA UAS flight test range.

Brian Riese, president and CEO of Phenix Solutions, expressed excitement about the week-long test by saying, “The Half-Pint is a very capable aircraft and shows promise as a utility

however, only a few of them own aircraft that comply with the FAA’s Remote ID policy coming into effect on Sept. 16, 2023. Whereas these pilots often call Remote ID policy “bullsh*t,” Dronetag now launches the most affordable Basic Solution, to help amateur pilots easily upgrade their drones to fly in compliance with new FAA rules.

case and gave us confidence in the aircraft with its ease of operation and control performance. These tests punctuate the technical competencies of the entire Phenix Solutions team and provide further evidence of our commitment to excellence and innovation. Our customers require high-performance UAS aircraft; the Half-Pint and the flagship Ultra 2XL certainly deliver against those demanding expectations.”

Half-Pint is a turbine-powered aircraft and has a useful payload of roughly 250 pounds. Combined with a low operating cost, it is an ideal aircraft for customer entry into the medium cargo UAS marketplace. Next up for the Half-Pint, Phenix will conduct a distribution platform cargo demonstration for one of its customers, as well as participate in an AAM flight demonstration in conjunction with teammates at the University of Alaska later this summer.
