Max-Viz EVS-1500 Gains EASA STC for Eurcopters


A Max­Viz enhanced vision system


(EVS) has received supplemental type certification (STC) from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for installation and operation in a number of Eurocopter twin­engine helicopter models. The EASA STC clears the Max­Viz EVS­


1500 real­time infrared enhanced vision system for use in all versions of the Eurocopter EC135. The system is already operational on an emergency medical services­configured EC135 owned by Hélicoptères De France, which serves customers at the Hospitals Alençon in Normandy, west of Paris.


Hélicoptères de France managing director Joel Vissac said, “We installed the Max­Viz enhanced vision system precisely to increase the safety margin for our crews and our customers. It also gives us a reliability advantage over competitors with less capability to fly critical emergency missions during peri­ ods of poor visibility.” Max­Viz president and CEO Elliott
