Frozen dino eggs
This wonderfully engaging activity explores the basic principles of cause and effect.
1 2
Place a small plastic dinosaur figure inside each balloon and fill with enough water to completely
cover the dinosaur and make a small egg shape (don’t overfill the balloons as they will take too long to melt).
Add extra magic to your eggs with glitter or food colouring (or both) before securing the balloon
with a knot.
3 4
Freeze the dino eggs in the freezer and once frozen, cut the balloon away and place back in the freezer.
When you’re ready to begin, place the dino eggs on a plastic
tray and let each child pick an egg to ‘hatch’. Provide warm salt water in spray bottles or pipettes to speed up the hatching process and watch their excitement build as the baby dinosaurs are revealed.
What you’ll need…
• 551007 Balloons • 817996 Dinosaurs counters
• Glitter and/or food colouring (optional)
• Warm water and salt • Spray bottles or pipettes
