EXPRESSING THEIR WORLD THROUGH FANTASY
Children love to play with dough. Its relaxing and encourages the development of fine motor skills, concentration and creativity. Sensory activities stimulate touch, smell, taste, movement, balance, sight and hearing. It can also offer opportunities for the development of language and social skills as they explore and investigate in groups. Why not try out these range of activities to stimulate their senses? Let them express their feelings and encourage social interactions through sensory play.
You will need…

Place all the ingredients apart from the boiling water into a large bowl and give them a good stir.
Add the boiling water and mix well (we are keeping our playdough natural but if you want to use food colouring to add colour then it will mix better if added to the boiling water).
Keep stirring and once the mixture is well combined it is ready to use for some sensory fun! The dough should keep for one to two weeks inside a sealed plastic bag.
Top tips
Collect natural materials and let your little learners use them to manipulate and construct with the dough. We played with the dough indoors, but this activity is brilliant for taking outside into nature and letting your little learners use the environment around them to create whatever their imaginations think of.
You can also enhance the sensory experience of this activity by using natural scents such as lavender, lemon, eucalyptus and mint.
