By allowing teachers to narrate their feedback as they annotate students’ work, Mark Mate prints this feedback instantly on a label, while also recording the feedback and assessment data in an online mark book, making teacher assessments a breeze. The ability to leave ‘verbal’ style feedback in books allows teachers and students to continue their conversation about the piece of work in the next lesson with a major reduction in the workload of staff.


Mark Mate is an online platform, accessed either through a computer or mobile device, that can be fully customised to fit in with a school’s current marking and assessment policies and has been designed to allow users of all IT capabilities to benefit from its time saving features.


Teachers are able to create classes using their class lists and can then create ‘objectives’ based around the work they are marking. Once the assessment objective has been created, teachers can then put the keyboard or phone to one side and control everything using their voice.


Books can be annotated using your normal marking strategy (highlighters or symbols etc) but as you read the piece of work, you are able to speak your feedback to the student and Mark Mate will dictate this into text as you speak. This dictated feedback is then printed instantly, via the supplied label printer, which you can then stick into the book before moving on to the next piece of work.


Mark Mate has made a huge difference not just to the time it takes to mark a set of books but the much more detailed quality of feedback I am able to give in the same amount of time as marking by hand. My students love reading their individualised feedback and parents have also commented very positively.
