PEER LEARNING
even when additional funding is not available. There are also providers actively reconsidering their place within the wider health system. In one recent conversation, we discussed a care-home model that sees its role partly as a bridge between hospital and home, alongside close working partnerships with ambulance services. Not every organisation will replicate that model, nor should they. The wider point is that integration is ultimately built through thousands of practical relationships. Knowing who to call, understanding what another organisation can realistically do and having an established route for an honest conversation can make an enormous difference when pressure hits.

Perhaps that is one of the most valuable things that happens at the Care Show; it gives people permission to step outside the immediate pressures of delivery and look around. After dozens of conversations with care
professionals, that may be the lesson I would take away above all others. Resilience does not mean having every answer within your own organisation. It means knowing which questions to ask, who to ask them of, and remaining open to what you might learn.
