£50m Luxury Highgate care home opens its doors

Signature Senior Lifestyle has marked the official opening of Signature at Highgate, its flagship £50m care home in Highgate, North London.

Signature at Highgate is understood to be

the most expensive care home ever built in the UK, representing a £50 million investment in construction and interior design and built using state-of-the-art materials, sustainable technology, and smart building systems. The home boasts 96 apartments and facilities including a café, cocktail bar, private dining rooms, art-deco cinema, and hair salon. It will also offer a dining experience curated by

MasterChef Winner Jane Devonshire. The Dementia Community at Signature at Highgate has been equipped with independently reviewed Safety Monitoring technology, as part of Signature’s commitment to roll out the technology to all homes following a successful pilot earlier in the year.

Signature at Highgate general manager Vicki Read said: “After all the hard work to get to this stage, I was so pleased to be able to finally open our doors and welcome our first residents.

“It is a real privilege to be entrusted with Signature at Highgate, which is without a doubt one of the most luxurious care homes in the UK. My team and I truly believe in providing exceptional care, enabling our residents to be who they are, enjoy life, make friendships remain active, and be treated with the utmost dignity and respect. We can’t wait to get to meet more of the local community and to play a full and active role in everything Highgate has to offer.”

Carmarthen care home sold to My Choice Healthcare

Towy Castle Care Home in Carmarthen, Dyfed, has been sold to My Choice. Originally built as a residential mansion in the eighteenth century, Towy Castle has operated as a care home for the last 35 years. The home, which boasts views over the Towy Estuary and surrounding countryside, is registered to provide personal care for up to 60 people over the age of 65. For the last 25 years, the business has

been run by Robert and Sharon Davis who recently decided to sell to retire from the sector. Following a confidential sales process with Oliver McCarthy at Christie & Co, it has been purchased by My Choice Healthcare. This home will be the group’s flagship home in Wales, further enhancing its existing portfolio of seven homes. Robert and Sharon Davis, former owners

of Towy Castle Care Home, said: “It has been a great pleasure to run Towy Castle over the last 25 years, we will miss it dearly. We wish the new owners all the best.”

commemorate the opening of the home was unveiled by Dr Macaskill. Home manager Terry Blackwood said: “It

has been so exciting seeing the development of the home and the care the team offers is second to none combined with an unrivalled lifestyle where the residents can keep doing all the things they love as well as trying new things with our all-inclusive events and well-being programme. There has been so much interest in the home from both residents and staff alike and the buzz around the home is infectious. The local community has been so welcoming and it’s been great to forge new partnerships ensuring that our residents remain integrated within their local community.”

My Choice Healthcare MD Bethan Evans commented: “We were delighted to work with Oliver on purchasing Towy Castle from Robert and Sharon. It is clear that they have invested heavily in the home and the people that it supports over many years and we are excited to continue the good work that they have started. Our priority will be to continue to provide the best support possible for all of our residents, as well as supporting the staff team to thrive within their roles.” Oliver McCarthy, associate director – care at Christie & Co, added: “It was a pleasure to help Robert and Sharon with the sale of their home, which they’ve developed into a brilliant person-centred business over the last 25 years. I’ve known Bethan and her team for many years - this is the fourth home that My Choice Healthcare has bought through us – so I’m sure that Towy Castle is in great hands and will be taken to further success.”
