One of the recent projects to be highlighted by architects, Gilling Dod, is Red Kite View (pictured), the new £20 m home for Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s CAMHS inpatient service supporting vulnerable young people from in and around West Yorkshire. This has been expanded from a small eight-bed unit in an adapted building in Leeds city centre to a new purpose-built facility with 22 en-suite bedrooms in nearby Armley. The new unit has become even more urgent in the wake of COVID and, as part of the NHS’s Transforming Care Agenda, will bring young people out of area placements and back closer to home.

Modern furniture for ‘community-facing’ rehabilitation unit
Specialist in healthcare furniture for mental healthcare, Teal LifeCare, will showcase its recent project work – including prestigious projects such as the Wesham Rehabilitation Unit near Preston. Designed to help people recover from
complex mental health issues, the new mental health rehabilitation facility was opened in March by Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. Providing a range of mental health services for
communities in Lancashire and South Cumbria, it aims to ensure ‘a seamless transition from inpatient care towards community life, empowering service- users to re-gain skills and confidence with everyday tasks’. A fresh, uplifting colour palette supports calmness and relaxation. Colours were selected to complement the attractive indoor and outdoor therapy areas, which include an expansive therapy garden and children’s visitor garden.
