DiMH 2019 PREVIEW Safe spaces ‘brimming with vitality’

Pineapple Contracts promises to unveil ‘a number of uniquely safe new products’, including additions to its award-winning Ryno furniture range.

Building on the success of its lounge and dining ranges, Pineapple set to work on what it says is a ‘revolutionary moulded bedroom range’ last year. The company said: “Comprising a completely water- resistant bed, floor-fixed storage units, and an anti-ligature wall-mounted wardrobe, the Ryno bedroom range will offer unrivalled safety, practicality, and durability, in mental health settings.” Pineapple says that, ‘unlike conventional

cabinetry’, the single-piece construction of Ryno products prevents them from being dismantled to create weapons, and minimises the opportunity for concealment of contraband. This single-piece construction, together with the elastic properties of the polymer, also help to dissipate impact forces, ‘resulting in superior damage resistance when compared with traditional cabinetry’. Like the rest of the Ryno range, the bedroom products are available in 10 versatile colours, ‘giving staff and patients extensive choice when creating safe spaces brimming with vitality’.

IHEEM looks forward to another 75 years

Founded in 1943 – five years before the NHS – IHEEM has a history of providing career support to engineers, facilities managers, and allied professionals in the healthcare estates sector. Having celebrated its 75th

Anniversary in 2018, the Institute is well placed to continue this support as it moves into the next 75 years. Membership development manager, Chris Parker, explained: “Members include employees of both public and

private healthcare providers, as well as employees of private sector engineering and consultancy firms and private practices. Increasingly members come from a non-engineering background, many with FM experience. My colleagues look forward to meeting you, and to explaining the benefits of membership and CPD opportunities we offer. There are membership opportunities for all.” IHEEM’s primary purpose, as a professional development organisation,

is to keep members up to date with developing technology and changing regulations. The Institute provides an increasing number of CPD opportunities. All IHEEM-run events are CPD- accredited, and include seminars, branch events, and conferences and exhibitions. The ‘official’ IHEEM journal, Health Estate Journal, provides a topical mix of news and feature articles covering the latest developments in healthcare engineering and estate management.
