LABORATORY MANAGEMENT

Many laboratory managers lack the formal qualifications necessary to review steriliser validation reports competently. This gap in expertise is worrying

All courses are City & Guilds

Given the complexity and potential hazards of using autoclaves, proper training for operators is not just beneficial – it’s essential.

n Interpreting steriliser cycle data: analysing cycle data to verify successful sterilisation processes.

n Safe loading and unloading: techniques to avoid contamination and ensure operator safety.

Laboratory managers and safety officers require advanced training needs, which include: n Regulatory standards and guidelines: a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory framework governing laboratory sterilisation.

n Health and safety protocols: ensuring a safe laboratory environment through adherence to safety protocols.

n Weekly testing and validation: procedures for validating and documenting regular equipment testing.

n Permit to work systems: managing and authorising maintenance and operational tasks.

n Validation report interpretation: detailed training on reviewing quarterly and annual steriliser validation reports.

n Maintenance best practices: ensuring long-term reliability and performance of sterilisers and steam generators.

Targeted training solutions Recognising these industry challenges, AVM Services has developed a comprehensive suite of training courses specifically designed to address the identified knowledge gaps in laboratory steriliser operations. All courses are meticulously crafted to provide both foundational and advanced knowledge, ensuring that laboratory staff are well- equipped to handle decontamination processes safely and effectively.

AVM’s training offerings include:

n Laboratory steriliser operator courses: covering safe use, cycle selection, probe placement, daily maintenance, data interpretation, and safe loading/ unloading.

n Advanced courses for laboratory managers/users/safety officers: Including regulatory standards, health and safety, weekly testing, permit to work, validation report interpretation, and maintenance best practices.
