INTEGRATED THEATRES
the theatres are either digitally integrated or hybrid rooms.
Video-over-IP platform NUCLeUS is the open, scalable and vendor neutral video-over-IP platform that is designed to transform surgical workflow efficiency in todays networked hospital environment. NUCLeUS connects devices, applications and data transparency for real-time information by every hospital stakeholder. Developed in consultation with leading surgeons, NUCLeUS guides clinical staff through the planning, recording and sharing of video images and other patient-related data in the operating room, across the hospital campus and beyond. The system is said to provide centralised access to all of the video data of any medical device from any vendor in the smart digital operating room. Clinicians can control the system via the intuitive user interface and display live images on any screen in the operating room or elsewhere on the hospital campus. NUCLeUS enables the integration of multiple video feeds from endoscopes, surgical microscopes,
room cameras and other video sources that can all be recorded simultaneously for documentation or training material. The system can be integrated seamlessly with the entire hospital (HIS, PACS and ERP) using DICOM and HL7 standards providing input to PACS and multimedia archives and generating a wide spectrum of surgical information that can be combined with the Electronic Patient Record.
NUCLeUS is a tool for remote consultation or teaching purposes - surgeons can broadcast live videos from the operating theatre to other doctors and medical students within the hospital campus or even to conference delegates at a remote location. Functionalities like Telestration can help a consulting surgeon, outside of the OR, to communicate easily with the team performing the surgical procedure in theatres.
The system’s all-IP architecture
provides a seamless upgrade path from HD to 4K, and flexibility and scalability to grow in line with the hospital requirements.
NUCLeUS key features are:
n Seamless, intuitive image workflow n Scalable, open and vendor neutral n Flexible display options n Compatible with any image source n Advanced image enhancement apps n For teaching, training and knowledge sharing
n Streamlined information management
n Easy integration, seamless upgrades and remote support
n Enabling smoother hospital workflow.
Over the past five years,” Tom Ford concluded, “we have been working hard to assemble a comprehensive stable of theatre equipment, combined with digital integration capabilities, to enable us to meet most theatre and ITU needs. We now have a strong all-round offering for such medical environments, but will continue to innovate and develop new products via our in-house R&D team and strong industry contacts, coupled with our first-class reputation as a turnkey contractor, which we will plan to strongly build upon as surgical demands continue to broaden with the advent of new technologies and thinking, as well as advances in surgical techniques.”
