Robot-assisted surgery

appropriate scheduling and directly affects the efficiency and duration of robotic procedures and turn around during the list ensuring maximum theatre utilisation.

l Contributing to patient safety: Theatre Nurses’ expertise in managing robotic systems and maintaining sterile environments reduces the risk of complications.

l Facilitating surgeon learning and mastery: A well-trained Theatre Nurse supports surgeons in adapting to robotic systems, reducing the learning curve and enhancing outcomes.

Conclusion Robotic surgery represents a significant advancement in minimally invasive surgery, but its success relies on the entire surgical team,

not just the surgeon. The theatre team play a critical, yet often underappreciated, role in ensuring the success of these procedures. Their contributions, from preoperative scheduling and setup to postoperative care, are vital. As robotic surgery continues to evolve, the importance of well-trained and competent Theatre Nurses cannot be overstated.
